Monsignor Gregory Ramkissoon, the Catholic missionary whose Mustard Seed Communities provides care and shelter to thousands of poor Jamaicans as well as other needy individuals in various countries worldwide, was inducted into the Council of Voluntary Social Services (CVSS) Hall of Fame on October 4 at the organisation’s 2018 National Volunteer Awards Banquet.
Sharing the spotlight with Ramkissoon at the event held at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston were Sagicor Group Jamaica, which was named Private Sector Volunteer of the Year; Young Woman/Young Men of Purpose, which received the Non-Profit Volunteer Organisation of the Year; Jamaica Cancer Society, CVSS Member Agency of the Year; Marilyn Lilith Williams, Outstanding Volunteer of the Year; Keenan Joseph Falconer, Young Leader Volunteer of the Year; and Sergeant Nickoyon Brown, Public Sector Volunteer of the Year.
Canadian High Commissioner to Jamaica Laurie Peters gave the keynote address.
